Education Corner

Every so often the education committee pauses for a sad moment to reflect on the loss of a member. It is with regret that the member highlighted this month is moving on to bigger and better things which will not include participation in planning and running classes offered by the MCF.

This member is Dan Guzzetta of CIMA Laboratories. Dan joined the education committee in the fall after HPLC '94 and has been an active member ever since. In addition to participation through course idea input, Dan is regularly a class coordinator giving 1 to 3 days of his time to provide the instructors with any support they may need. Dan has also been an evaluator for the Undergraduate Research Award.

Dan works at CIMA Labs as their Senior Analyst (in analytical chemistry). His main focus is separations using HPLC for method development and validation in the research and development area. Outside of work Dan is father to an active 8 month old baby girl. He loves woodworking and remodels for a hobby. He also does trap shooting for relaxation.

Dan himself has written a farewell selection for this newsletter:

"My time has come to move on and explore other opportunities, thus I will be leaving the MCF Education Committee. I would especially like to thank the other education members which made the committee so much fun. I really learned a lot and met a lot of interesting people. It felt great to be a part of the forum. The committee was an excellent tool to expand my education in the science community and a great way to network with others in similar fields. I would really like to encourage others to volunteer for a committee that interests them. It is a rewarding experience. Enjoy the '98 Spring Symposium!"
-Dan Guzzetta

We all wish Dan the best of luck in his future endeavors and hope he comes back to visit (and perhaps participate) in the future.
GOOD LUCK DAN!!!
