Instructor: John W. Dolan, Ph.D., along with participating vendors

Course with "Hands On" Experience!!!

This course is an intensive course that teaches the ins and outs of solving problems that occur with HPLC hardware. More importantly, techniques to avoid/prevent many of these problems from occurring in the first place will be covered. In addition, a "hands on" lab section will teach recognition and provide for practice of these newly learned techniques.

Course Outline:

  • Examine the operating principles of each module in an HPLC system
  • Review basic HPLC theory as it applies to troubleshooting and instrument maintenance
  • Explore proven techniques for systematic problem solving and instrument maintenance
  • Approaches to preventing common hardware problems
  • "Hands on" problem solving lab with vendors

John Dolan completed his graduate studies in 1976, earning his MS at Purdue University and his Ph.D. at the University of California, Davis. His graduate work focused on detector development for both liquid chromatography and gas chromatography. After completion of his studies, and a tenure as a postdoc at Northeastern University in Boston, he secured employment with the Technicon Instruments Company working in the Clinical Chemistry R&D area where he designed and tested automated LC systems for therapeutic drug monitoring.
