The purpose of this workshop is to provide training and insight in advanced applications and techniques for GC, along with their application to practical industry and laboratory problems. The course will include classroom instruction along with a question and answer session for problems encountered by the students in the class. All class participants are encouraged to bring issues and concerns to the course for discussion. This sessions two instructors are well known to the MCF, both having been involved with our Spring Symposium and previous course instruction, including this Advanced GC course! Please note that

Daron Decker is currently employed with Chromatography Inc. as a technical specialist in the area of gas chromatography. Chromatography Inc. among other things contracts technical support for Hewlett-Packard GC and HPLC columns and supplies. He previously worked for J&W Scientific, Inc. for more than nine years working in the area of technical support for the company. J&W specializes in high resolution gas chromatography (GC) and is the leading manufacturer of capillary GC columns. In his duties as technical support, Daron has given hundreds of seminars, courses and technical papers on GC both domestic and international. Daron started his career at an environmental lab in south central Minnesota (MVTL) and worked there for two and half years as an analytical chemist. He received his BS in Chemistry (ACS Degree) from the University of South Dakota in 1987. Daron has been a long time proponent of the MCF and member since 1987. He has given three other courses (Advanced GC, co-taught with Walt Jennings) for the MCF and presented many technical papers at the spring meetings over the years. Daron currently lives in Pearland, TX a suburb south of Houston with his wife of 13 years and their 3 children (soon to be 4). Cameron George has been employed with J&W for over four years. As a Senior Applications chemist his time is split time between answering customers technical questions and running the applications that appear in their catalog and other literature. In addition, a fair part of his time is spent on the road, traveling one or two weeks a month to different exotic locations around the world to teach gas chromatography seminars, visit customer sites and attend conferences. Cameron received his BS degree in Biology from California State University (Sacramento) and prior to coming to J&W worked in a small environmental laboratory analyzing soil and water samples for volatile organic contaminants. The environmental laboratory work ethic mixed in with the small lab mentality helped to drastically increase his required learning curve and gave him a real world outlook that he hopes is transferred in the GC courses that he teaches. Cameron has attended the MCF Spring Symposium for the last four years and has given several seminars. He is currently looking forward to the upcoming Advanced GC Course in December! |
