Basic LC/MS Techniques and Applications May 15-16, 2001 The course will include an intense overview of mass spectrometry as well as a detailed discussion on the different Liquid Chromatography interfaces available today. Also discussed will be applications associated with the different techniques in practice today. Course Outline
Meet the Instructor ... Dr. Roger A. Upham received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He did post-doctoral studies at the University of Liverpool in Mass Spectrometry of Peptides, and under Professor Donald Hunt at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville in Chemical Ionization mass spectrometry. Dr. Upham became the Director of the Mass Spectrometer Laboratory, in the Department of Chemistry, at the University of Minnesota in 1971. From there he went on to become the Director of Mass Spectrometry at Twin City Testing in 1982. Most recently (in 1989), Dr. Upham moved into Mass Spectrometry Sales with VG Instruments that later became Fisons Instruments and is now Micromass. Matthew J. Dilts earned his BS in Chemistry from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania 1985. He continued with Masters studies in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh. Most recently (1999), he earned a Masters in Business Administration from Point Park College. Matthew began his career as Manager of Applications for Extrel Mass Spectrometry in Pittsburgh, PA in 1987 and in 1991 became an LC/MS Technical Specialist for Waters Corporation in Milford, MA 1991. From 2000 to the present, he has been with Micromass in Beverly, MA performing Mass Spectrometry sales for Micromass. John Van Antwerp received his BA in Chemistry from Rutgers University in 1975. He spent the next 13 years at Roche in the analytical development group developing HPLC assays for the animal health products group. He has been with Waters Corp. for the past 13 years, and is currently the LC/MS technical support manager for North America. Registration ...
